Wallington is home to two of Sutton's five grammar schools, which makes the 11+ an especially local topic here — there's a good chance your child's friends and classmates are preparing for the same test. Here's what Wallington families need to know about the local school system, and how we can help.
Wallington sits within the London Borough of Sutton, home to 5 grammar schools that all select using the same Selective Eligibility Test (SET) — including two based right in Wallington itself:
All five use the same two-stage SET process: a multiple-choice English and Maths test in mid-September of Year 6, followed by a written Stage 2 paper for those who qualify — shared across the three boys' schools, and separately across the two girls' schools. Registration opens in May and closes at the end of July.

Sutton High School (GDST) is the nearest independent option, a girls' school (3–18) whose 11+ process combines an online assessment, a written paper and a short interview, with every applicant automatically considered for an academic scholarship.
A number of Wallington families also look towards Croydon, at Whitgift School and Trinity School — both selective boys' independent schools with their own English, Maths and reasoning assessments plus an interview for shortlisted candidates.
Many other independent schools nationally use the ISEB Common Pre-Test alongside a school-specific paper or interview, so it's always worth checking the exact process directly with any school you're considering.
Some Wallington families also prepare their child for super-selective schools further out, including Kent Test grammar schools and St Olave's Grammar School in Orpington, which runs its own separate two-stage test.
