Tiffin School (boys) and The Tiffin Girls' School are both super-selective grammar schools with a two-stage entrance test and defined priority catchment areas:

• Tiffin School uses an Inner Priority Area (under 10km from the school) and an Outer Priority Area (10–14km). Stage 2 invitations typically go out in mid-October, with Stage 2 itself in mid-November.
• Tiffin Girls' School uses an Inner Area covering specific Kingston wards, plus a much wider Designated Area spanning dozens of postal districts across south-west London and Surrey. Stage 1 typically runs in early October, with Stage 2 invitations around mid-October.

Because both catchments are postcode-specific and change slightly year to year, it's essential to check your exact address against the current published boundary rather than assume based on general area.

Private & independent schools

Kingston also has strong independent options. Kingston Grammar School — despite the name, an independent school, not a state grammar — assesses English and Maths at 11+. Surbiton High School is a well-regarded co-educational independent school nearby, and Marymount International School offers an international, IB-focused alternative for families considering a different academic path.
