11+ Tutoring in Cheam

Cheam is home to Nonsuch High School for Girls, one of Sutton's five grammar schools — and it's also where Tutorie holds its own in-person Saturday classes, at St Dunstan's CoE Primary School. Between the local grammar system and our own presence here, Cheam is one of the areas we know best.

Grammar schools

Cheam sits within the London Borough of Sutton, home to 5 grammar schools that all select using the same Selective Eligibility Test (SET):

• Nonsuch High School for Girls — located in Cheam
• Sutton Grammar School (boys)
• Wallington County Grammar School (boys)
• Wilson's School (boys)
• Wallington High School for Girls

The SET is a two-stage process: a multiple-choice English and Maths test in mid-September of Year 6, then a written Stage 2 paper for those who qualify, shared across the three boys' schools and separately across the two girls' schools. Registration opens in May and closes at the end of July.

Private & independent schools

Sutton High School (GDST) is the nearest independent option, a girls' school (3–18) with an 11+ process combining an online assessment, a written paper and a short interview — every applicant is automatically considered for an academic scholarship.

Some Cheam families also look towards Croydon's Whitgift School and Trinity School, both selective boys' independent schools with English, Maths and reasoning assessments plus an interview stage.

Many other independent schools use the ISEB Common Pre-Test alongside their own paper or interview — always worth checking directly with the school.

Applying further afield
